San Francisco and Carmel

We arrived home, yesterday, from a week long excursion to San Francisco and Carmel to visit the Drum family!  We always love our time up in Northern California.

San Francisco
We arrived in San Jose on Monday afternoon and drove up to San Francisco to visit Ashley, Mike and Elle.  After a great meal on Monday night and an even better sleep, we ventured out to Alcatraz on Tuesday morning.  J.T. was a little afraid of getting on a boat, but by the time we left, he wanted to sit up on the top in the open air!

Time to leave :(

Carmel - The Beach
It wouldn't be a trip to Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop's house if we didn't spend a couple days at the beach.  Personally, I was cold because the wind was really whipping.  It didn't seem to affect the kids at all.  Both wanted their suits on so they could run and play in the water.  BURRR!!!!

A little sand time before they hit the water

The cold finally hit him!

Ashley's eyes are closed, but Mom-Mom looks great!  Better picture of Ashley later.

Carmel - The remaining days
We were also able to venture out on the days we didn't hit the beach.  On Friday we hit a local park and on Saturday we went to an airshow in Hollister.  Plus, a trip wouldn't be complete without some time outside in the front yard!

Denise the Menace park in Monterey.  It was a very cool park.

 The kids loved this slide!

 Fitting!

Mini Mites "Monkeys" First Game

Last night, the Mini Mites had their first game.  J.T.'s team is orange and named the Monkeys.  He did pretty good, for never having been in a game situation like this before.  He has some things to learn, like which goal to shoot at, but it will all come with time.  The important thing is that he had fun and wants to go back for more!! Infact, his biggest complaint was that he didn't get to skate more!

J.T. is number 4 and has the white tape around his socks.

Preschool Graduation

Last night, J.T. graduated from Above and Beyond Preschool.  Imagine how unhappy he was to hear he still has 3 more days of  classes left!!!  Anyway, it was a nice ceremony and I still can't believe how fast he is growing up.  Two months and Kindergarten starts...crazy!!!

Getting ready to go inside to graduate!!!

Almost ready to start, just a few family shots first.

Trike-a-Thon

On Friday, J.T.'s preschool held a Trike-a-Thon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  We are so proud of J.T. as he raised close to $600 and we thank all our friends and family who donated to this great cause!  He did a very good job as they biked in a circle for about an hour.  He was a little sweaty when he was done, but he said that it was fun!

Getting ready to head to the starting line

Ready, get set, go!!!

Around and around and around we go...

All done and a little sweaty!

Mini Mites First Practice

Today was J.T.'s first practice as a Mini Mite and I don't know who was more excited, J.T. or daddy?!?!?!  There were about 40 kids there, so the ice was full, but he did well.  J.T. is a on Team Monkey, but today they practiced as a group.

John said from the minute he got off the ice through the whole time getting him out of his gear, he was talking about how much fun he had.  I hope he keeps enjoying it as much as he did today.

Playing Sharks and Minnows.  You had to try and skate to the other end of the ice without being touched.  If someone touched you, then you became a shark and had to go to the middle circle.  J.T. didn't quite get the concept.

Here you had to try to get to the other side of the ice without getting hit in the skate by a puck.  J.T. said that this was one of his most favorite things he did in practice today.

Footwork Drills (skating around the sticks and stepping over the sticks).  They also had to jump over them, but no video of this.

This is what 40+ kids skating in a circle looks like!!!!
